BAFTA Film Question Time

BAFTA Film Question Time - April 2013

On Tuesday 16 April a panel of filmmaking experts came together to debate burning industry questions and

stimulate debate on key issues affecting UK film.

This event brought together some of the industry’s brightest thinkers to discuss the ups and downs and highs and lows for UK film in 2012, and look at where we’re heading for 2013 and beyond. Are we giving young people the right training and encouragement to find a future in the film industry? What does the UK do best and why? Are we losing VFX talent to other countries with more favourable tax credits? How might the high end TV and Animation Tax Credits affect the UK film industry?

The panel:

Iain Smith - Chair of the British Film Commission, producer for Wanted and Children of Men
Ben Robers - Director of the BFI Film Fund
Kate O'Connor - Executive Director and Deputy CEO of Creative Skillset
Wendy Mitchell - Editor of Screen International and Screendaily.com
Xavier Marchand - Managing Director of Momentum Pictures and President of International Distribution of Alliance Films
James Watkins - Director and Screenwriter, with credits including Woman in Black and Eden Lake
