BAFTA and Current TV are teaming up to provide insight into the editorial relationship between factual filmmaker and commissioner. This time we'll be exploring the pilot to commission process as well as offering a unique opportunity for audience members and viewers to help commission Current's next series of documentaries for 2012.
The Open Season initiative showcases four programmes that have the potential to become entertaining series for Current TV, made by emerging directors, new production companies and Current's in-house production unit.
At this event, a live commissioning panel of factual experts and decision makers as well as the audience, will discuss each piece, offering feedback to the filmmakers as well as views on which pilots should become fully-fledged series. The aim of this session is to offer a transparent look into the pilot-to-commission process as well as create a TV first, where viewers help shape a channel. By the end of this discussion, one or more of the pilots will have been green-lit, with your input!
Disclaimer: Current TV have kindly shared their live stream of this event with us (exciting). Whilst we expect things to go without a hiccup, please bear with us in the event of any technical difficulties; we have no control over what may happen. Also, please note that this event is co-produced by BAFTA and Current TV and the views of the panel do not necessarily reflect those of BAFTA. Enjoy the show!
