1. The audition environment can be harsh; take a step back before you beat yourself up.

North insists that the tendency to get caught up in a bad experience is no good for any actor.

You gotta remember that it's not as bad as you think.

Instead, putting some distance between yourself + the experience, whether it be a rough day on set or an audition that goes terribly wrong, can give you some valuable perspective.

2. Disaster can strike anywhere + to anyone!

During the incident in question, North recalls the exact mistakes that convinced him the producers + directors would decide to pass on hiring him.

I forgot the line. I had to restart two, maybe three times.

If these blunders sound familiar, you'll probably understand why North felt he had to apologize to his manager.

3. The best laid plans often go awry...

North put in hard work to get ready for the audition, but in the end just couldn't pull it off like he had hoped.

I'm so sorry. I don't want you to think I wasn't prepared. I was.

Despite his apology, he recognizes that there's nothing more he could have done.

4. For many, the final decision is out of our hands.

As it turned out, North's part in securing the role ended up to be much smaller than he had thought. He advises us to remember that a huge part of getting work as an actor...is luck.

Sometimes it comes down to the most ridiculous things that get you the job.
