Tom Hiddleston's advice: Have faith in yourself | My Worst

Tom Hiddleston | My Worst

Tom Hiddleston, the actor behind everyone’s favourite villain-turned-anti-hero Loki, takes us through how he bounced back after rejection and his advice for keeping a sense of self in a tough industry. Here's what we learned.

Handling rejection

Hiddleston identifies that one of the toughest things about being an actor is its solitary nature - particularly when you're being rejected for parts. His advice for dealing with it:

Be true to yourself

The challenge is to find a way of negotiating that sense of rejection without it eroding your sense of self and your own specific talent and your own curiosity in the work

Hiddleston notes that it can be tough to stay true to yourself in an industry focussed on public perceptions (or misconceptions!) about yourself. Emphasising the importance of protecting your sense of self, he recommends staying focus on your own hard work.

And his last piece of advice?

Have faith in yourself
